The Government Solutions Division of Black Box Network Services is an information systems integrator that designs, implements and maintains telecommunications and data solutions for Federal customers worldwide.


Black Box Network Services (Black Box) has the following role available providing support for the CATS program at Naval Air Station (NAS) Lemoore.


Duties and Responsibilities:


The dedicated NAS Lemoore technician independently performs difficult and complex tasks including: installations of software and hardware; conducting site surveys; performing maintenance, diagnoses, and repair of telecommunications equipment.


Principle duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.


  • Act as Telephone installation and repair technician in support of Black Box O&M contract
  • Professional verbal and written communication skill is required. Good grammar is required
  • This position requires good customer service skills
  • Professional appearance in accordance with Black Box standards
  • Work schedule may require nights and weekends
  • Working knowledge of personal computer applications (specifically Windows and Microsoft Office and DOS Prompts).
  • Technical knowledge and ability to perform operation of the telecommunication functions.
  • Ability to analyze and trouble shoot hardware and software problems in order to resolve PBX and voice mail performance issues.
  • Perform move, add, and change (MAC) activities at all supported sites.
  • Complete all paperwork related to MAC orders and return these forms in real-time to the designated recipient upon completion.
  • Troubleshoot analog trunks (CO lines) in PBX using system tools and other test equipment, such as buttsets and report findings to administrator for escalation to telephone company.
  • Troubleshoot T1 and PRI digital circuits in PBX and at customer’s location and report findings to COR for escalation to Telephone Company or the appropriate agency.
  • Return defective equipment to vendor for repair authorization with an appropriate description of the defect attached.
  • Repair cable problems as required and maintain database records. I.E. swap defective copper or fiber cable pairs and tag as defective in closets, MDF, IDF’s etc.
  • Respond to all E-mail, calls and voicemails daily in a timely manner.
  • Lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds (i.e. PC or various telephone equipment and or tools)
  • Stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, or reaching (i.e. cross connecting, wiring, punch down, cabling and for installation of various telephone equipment)
  • Hours of operation for NAS Lemoore is 7:00 AM TO 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday


Preferred Qualifications:


OEM trained/certified for telecommunications network systems equipment. Services are performed at a specific location. Demonstrated experience in: independently performing operation/installation/repair/maintenance/ troubleshooting/etc. for digital switching systems listed below

  • Avaya 8720, CM2.1 or above
  • Must have experience implementing and troubleshooting Intuity R5 messaging solution/release 4
  • Must have experience implementing and troubleshooting and test T1 and HDSL circuits and related equipment. Engineering, design, and installation of T1 and HDSL circuits including testing and procuring related equipment.
    • Install High Speed Circuit
    • Disconnect High Speed Circuit
    • Engineer, furnish and install line conditioning on voice grade circuits, radio circuits, and 56K digital circuits to either add or reduce gain-on circuits between the Minimum Point Of Entry (MPOE) and the terminating location on base.
    • Repair and other services not related to switches, e.g. wire runs, T-1s, data circuits, etc.
    • Analyze routine equipment problems and makes field corrections, interface with and supply technical assistance to customers, advise customer of proper equipment operation and basic maintenance procedures, and complete service reports.



Required Skills and Qualifications:


Dedicated technicians shall have demonstrated experience in the operation, installation, maintenance, and repair of enterprise level telecommunications network systems and equipment.

  • The successful candidate shall have a minimum of an Associate’s degree or equivalent training and 10 years previous technical experience as a switch engineer in a large and small PBX environment.
  • A Department of Defense (DOD) secret security clearance required.
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Valid California Driver’s License required
