The Resident Systems Engineer (RE) is expected to be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and primary point of contact for all engineering level system development and remediation activities.  The RE is expected to maintain the system in accordance with manufacturer recommendations through documented processes and procedures to include preventive maintenance activities and the administration of corrective content, system improvements and planning for expansion.



On Site Coverage:

The Resident Engineer is expected to be onsite at the Pentagon during normal production hours for a period of 8 hours via an established schedule.  Additionally, when issues arise that may not be accomplished during normal hours, be physically present onsite to accomplish the tasks, (e.g. upgrades, changes in hardware, software, troubleshooting, etc.)

The performance of maintenance requires that Key Personnel be available for emergency monitoring and response. Designated staff shall be assigned in alternating shifts to respond to off-hours calls for emergency service, and may work extended hours or weekends to perform emergency maintenance service.




Experience Sought:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Extensive hands on experience with the Avaya AS5300 as it is very similar in base code and architecture to the Genband AS.
  • Basic knowledge of Session Border Controllers
  • Solid knowledge of Gateways such as AudioCodes, MG3500, MG9000 etc…
  • Solid knowledge of legacy switches such as Nortel CS2100, Nortel CS1000, 5ESS etc…
  • Solid knowledge of trace captures analysis
  • Solid knowledge of IP Data Network functions and configuration
  • Solid IP Experience
  • Solid SIP Experience
  • Manufacturer certifications acknowledging expertise in any of the above or similar
