Overview

Under minimal direction;

  • Apply technical and operational knowledge to configure, operate, and maintain information processing and telecommunications systems.
  • Analyze performance statistics to support tuning, automation, and optimization activities.
  • Establishes, composes, and maintains security, capacity, and business continuity controls and documentation.
  • Interact with an operating company or business segment to gain an understanding of the business environment, technical requirements, and organizational direction.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities.

Responsibilities

 

Specific Duties:

In this position, the SOC Analyst Technician provides 24x7x365 support for;

 

  • Network, application, database and telephone switch monitoring and analysis.
  • Batch processing monitoring and analysis, out-of-hours Service Desk calls, and Corporate Central Computing (CCF) Facility stewardship.
  • Monitor batch processing job flows on two corporate networks and monitor that requested batch completion times are met, and escalate.
  • Respond promptly and accurately to error notifications and alerts.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve batch-processing delays.
  • Timely and accurately notify Sandia of batch-processing errors, delays or problems to appropriate support personnel using documented processes.
  • Restart jobs that ‘abend’ using available documentation. Work closely with, and assist support personnel to resolve issues as necessary.
  • Respond expeditiously to requests from Sandia for priority job execution. Notify appropriate support personnel of documentation discrepancies or other batch processing issues following established procedures.
  • Complete ad-hoc Sandia-defined batch processing and backups in the correct sequence and within the time periods designated by Sandia.
  • Start jobs manually absent automated processes.
  • Prepare nightly reports on issues encountered. Maintain operations analysis documentation.

Qualifications

Required Training/Certification:

  • 2+years of experience providing IT support in a corporate setting.
  • Demonstrated understanding of TCP/IP networking.
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving issues with desktops, servers, and networking systems.
  • Experience in a ticketing and monitoring systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving batch processing job flow problems, Control-M/EM experience required.
  • Flexibility/agility to support a 24 hours a day 365 days/year operation.
  • Experience with the monitoring and ticketing tools.
  • Must have expert computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite experience

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance.
  • Ability to perform hourly walkthroughs of the Corporate Central Computing (CCF) (approximately 40,000 sq Ft)
  • Ability to successfully handle multiple priorities simultaneously is required.
  • Must be a US citizen.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • The successful candidate shall have a minimum of a high school diploma and 2+ years of experience providing technical IT support in a corporate setting. 

 

 

  • Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Physical requirements include occasional lifting/carrying of 50 pounds; visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer keyboard and basic office equipment.  Subject to sitting, standing, reaching, walking, twisting, and kneeling to perform essential functions.  Working conditions are primarily inside.
