Responsibilities

Duties:

Provide Maintenance and Operations support for the Harris P25 MASTR V IP based trunking system.  Maintenance support shall be provided for MASTR system components including the IP Control Point, Base Station/Repeaters, Transmit Sites, Auxiliary Receiver Sites, and Radios. Provides day-to-day operation of the Radio systems area which includes installation, maintenance and support of Harris P25 trunked system infrastructure, point to point microwave systems, and conventional land mobile radio systems. This position is located in Idaho Falls, ID.

 

Responsibilities


Specific Duties:

  • Assist in maintaining the following legacy RF, paging, microwave, distributed antenna system (DAS), and spread spectrum systems:
    • Trident “PassPort” network trunking system
    • Zetron  series paging terminals (main – hot standby)
    • Glenayre 2800 series, very high frequency (VHF) high power, simulcast paging assembly
    • Harris/Farinon quadra link, 7GHz
    • Nera interlink NL2007CBA-A10AAA, 7GHz
    • Redline AN50I PTP datalink, 5.8GHz
    • AvaLAN 900MHz IP addressed local multipoint distribution system (LMDS) transceivers
  • Climbing towers and performing elevated work.
  • Operating boom lifts and bucket trucks.
  • Direct involvement in work order evaluation, scheduling, and execution, and on-time work order update and closeout.  
  • Isolate system problems and malfunctions; take timely corrective action to meet conditions of Black Box contract. 
  • Expert level knowledge of the OSI model
  • Additional work hours beyond normal duty hours may be necessary, at times, to complete the weekly workload based upon the discretion of the supervisor.
  • On-call availability during off-hours in the event of service problems with the system.
  • Effective time management to allow for involvement in special task order projects as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Fostering of excellent relations with the Customer and the team on behalf of Black Box.
  • Participating workplace safety. Assist in identifying and mitigating hazards related to wireless/RF work. Adhere to all MTS and work site specific safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

Training/Certification

  • Harris P25 IP Master Technician
  • Harris Network Security & Assurance
  • Cisco Network Certified Network Administrator (CCNA)
  • CompTIA Network+ Certification

 

Required Training/Certification:

  • Harris P25 Radio and Network Maintenance
  • Harris P25 IP System Administration
  • FCC GROL or able to obtain within 3/6 months

 

Required Qualifications:

  • In this position, the P25 Wireless Technician is required to have a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in RF spectrum dependent telecommunications systems and equipment, including (but not limited to) Harris P25 Trunking Systems, Trunked Land Mobile Radio System(s), Digital Paging System(s), Global Positioning System (GPS), Microwave System(s), Conventional Land Mobile Radio System(s), Spread Spectrum System(s), and other wireless applications.
  • Minimum Associates degree, 2 year technical degree, relevant military experience, equivalent special electronics training, or five (5) years of equivalent work experience is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, systems, and equipment in the field of Radio Communication including:  system design, testing, maintenance and support of Harris P25 trunked system infrastructure (P25 simulcast, multicast, MASTR V, ISSI, and VIDA) Ability to operate heavy equipment/vehicles such as bucket trucks/elevated platforms.
  • Knowledge to set up user profiles in Harris P25 system.
  • Knowledge of the installation and configuration of Cisco Routers and switches.
  • Knowledge to properly Engineer base stations.
  • Strong computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and word processing.
  • Capable of working effectively with co-workers and fulfill customer requests.
  • Ability to successfully handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work extremely flexible hours and support on-call duties, holidays, weekends, and shift work may be as
  • Additional work hours beyond normal duty hours may be necessary, at times, to complete the weekly workload based upon the discretion of the supervisor.
  • On-call availability during off-hours in the event of service problems with the system.
  • Ability to concisely and effectively communicate and present complex technical information to a varied audience, including technical and non-technical customer representatives.
  • Effective time management to allow for involvement in special task order projects as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Fostering of excellent relations with the Customer and the Team on behalf of Black Box.
  • Follow established guidelines set forth by the Customer, Black Box, and the supervisor for conduct and work performance.
  • Isolate system problems and malfunctions; take timely corrective action to meet conditions of Black Box contract.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “L” Clearance.
  • Strong computer skills with emphasis on applications are required.
  • Ability to successfully handle multiple priorities simultaneously is required.
  • Ability to climb towers and perform elevated work.
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment/vehicles such as boom lifts/bucket trucks/elevated platforms.
  • Ability to adhere to and contribute to workplace safety policies and procedures.
  • Must be a US citizen with a valid passport
