Under minimal direction, applies technical and operational knowledge to configure, operate, and maintain information processing and telecommunications systems; analyzes performance statistics to support tuning, automation, and optimization activities; establishes, composes, and maintains security, capacity, and business continuity controls and documentation; interacts with an operating company or business segment to gain an understanding of the business environment, technical requirements, and organizational direction; collects, defines, and organizes detailed user requirements; defines, plans and deliverables for assigned projects; understands and complies with project budgets; conceptualizes, constructs, tests, implements, and/or operates integrated infrastructure solutions; recommends training plans; and leads continuous improvement activities.
In this position, the Documentation & Drafting Technician maintains current project documentation, records of capacity and capability for the inside & outside cable plant, assists in planning future expansions. Develop and implement cable management database. Track databases to verify accuracy. Remove drop box numbers from appropriate database(s) after drop boxes are physically removed from the plant. Assign cable names and track cable resources.
Consolidate other sources of cable documentation into one formal database. Create and coordinate projects to allocate or retrieve resources. Develop, implement, and maintain procedures. Contribute to process development and improvement. Report to Sandia areas of concern where the available capacity is at 10% or less. Document work performed (including issues) in request work flow log prior to closing or transitioning work to another team.
The successful candidate shall have a minimum of a Bachelors degree or equivalent years of experience providing technical IT support in a corporate setting. Must understand IT Service Management and delivery within industry best practices framework such as ITIL.
