Under minimal direction, applies technical and operational knowledge to configure, operate, and maintain information processing and telecommunications systems; analyzes performance statistics to support tuning, automation, and optimization activities; establishes, composes, and maintains security, capacity, and business continuity controls and documentation; interacts with an operating company or business segment to gain an understanding of the business environment, technical requirements, and organizational direction; collects, defines, and organizes detailed user requirements; defines, plans and deliverables for assigned projects; understands and complies with project budgets; conceptualizes, constructs, tests, implements, and/or operates integrated infrastructure solutions; recommends training plans; and leads continuous improvement activities; researches, evaluates, and stays current on emerging trends; coaches, mentors, and provides technical leadership to team members.


The Data Center Engineer V Designer must be capable of performing network engineering functions including: conceptualization, design, implementation, and optimization. Knowledge in the application of current and emerging network software and hardware technology and protocols is required.  In this position, the Engineer is responsible for troubleshooting and resolving problems with the equipment deployed in the network environments.  Review and resolve network related incident reports (expected to resolve a high percentage of problems, which are escalated from the Tier II staff). Make routing and switch configurations changes. Remove/redeploy, sanitize network hardware, monitor and analyze network performance in order to optimize the network and enable proactive network management. Coordinate with Telecommunication Infrastructure Design team for new cable installations. Document work performed (including issues) in service request workflow log prior to closing service request or transitioning work to another team.




  • Ability to develop test scenarios to recreate and resolve unexplained network phenomena.
  • A minimum of 5 years of Intimate hands-on experience with industry standard networking equipment.
  • The ability to apply programming and scripting knowledge to automate conventional workflows.
  • Ability to design and develop Python (2.X and 3.X) modules.
  • Ability to work beyond normal business hours as needed.
  • High level of comfort working in a Linux environment.
  • Current DOE Q security clearance



  • Possess or demonstrate ability to obtain and maintain a required DOE Q-Clearance
  • Working knowledge of Packet Analyzers (Wireshark/TCP Dump, etc.)
  • Intimate working knowledge of Ethernet, TCP/IP, and routing technologies
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Able to take direction from senior staff
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a larger team
  • Communicate frequently with senior staff and project lead to discuss issues, needs, activities, progress
  • Demonstrated willingness to follow established change processes and procedure
  • All work performed is of the highest quality and professionalism



  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance.
  • Strong computer skills with emphasis on applications are required.
  • Ability to successfully handle multiple priorities simultaneously is required.
  • Must be a US citizen with a valid passport
  • Ability to work extremely flexible hours and support on-call duties and shift work may be required.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Professional and articulate.
  • The successful candidate shall have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or an Associate degree with 5 years of experience providing technical IT support in a corporate setting. Candidate must understand IT Service Management and delivery within industry best practices framework such as ITIL.
