    General Duties:

    Under minimal direction, applies technical and operational knowledge to configure, operate, and maintain information processing and telecommunications systems; analyzes performance statistics to support tuning, automation, and optimization activities; establishes, composes, and maintains security, capacity, and business continuity controls and documentation; interacts with an operating company or business segment to gain an understanding of the business environment, technical requirements, and organizational direction; collects, defines, and organizes detailed user requirements; defines, plans and deliverables for assigned projects; understands and complies with project budgets; conceptualizes, constructs, tests, implements, and/or operates integrated infrastructure solutions; recommends training plans; and leads continuous improvement activities; researches, evaluates, and stays current on emerging trends; coaches, mentors, and provides technical leadership to team members.

    Responsibilities

    Specific Duties:

    The Network Firewall Tier III Technician must be capable of performing;

    Fostering of excellent relations with the Customer and the team on behalf of Black Box.

    • Lead efforts to provide network IP Security Networks in our various MSCs and Network Equipment Centers. Participate in design discussions with Planning and Design Team to design new secured network segments and transport systems security policies for these locations.
    • Responsible for analyzing application data flows and designing firewall policies that support application requirements, adhere to security practices, and meet project timelines. Responsible for analyzing firewall change requests and integrating changes into existing firewall policies; while maintaining security standards.
    • Lead efforts to create new MSC and Network Equipment Center security designs based on current business needs, capacity increases, customer growth, directional platforms and emerging technology releases.
    • Develop and maintain security documentation and standards documents, as required.
    • Provide higher tier technical support to Network Operations teams on all security related networking issues.

    Required Training/Certification:

    • Must have strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite experience.
    • Have an active or in the process of obtaining Juniper Network Certification (JNCIA) .
    • Extensive experience with network switches and routers.
    • Must have an exceptional understanding of the OSI model.
    • Demonstrate effective communication skills using tact and courtesy.
    • Extensive hands on experience supporting large scale multi-vendor local and Wide Area Networks.
    • Ability to articulate technical projects verbally and in writing.
    • Extensive knowledge of network security.
    • Extensive experience testing networks and evaluating test results to understand why the system Passed or failed.
    • Basic knowledge of cable standards.
    • Experience analyzing data traffic taken from capture/traces.

     

    • Strong knowledge of the following tools/systems:
      • VPN setup and administration with Pulse Secure Appliances
      • Juniper SRX platforms
      • Knowledge of the Junos OS
      • Familiar with Juniper Space
      • Familiar with Ansible and software define networking
      • Juniper Firewall Management
      • Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDP) concepts
      • Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) concepts
      • Access Control Lists (ACL) concepts
      • Routing Protocols
      • Familiar with the fundamentals of IPv6
      • ITSM

    Qualifications

    Qualifications:

    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance.
    • Strong computer skills with emphasis on applications are required.
    • Ability to successfully handle multiple priorities simultaneously is required.
    • Must be a US citizen with a valid passport.
    • Ability to work extremely flexible hours and support on-call duties and shift work may be required.
    • A valid driver’s license is required.
    • Professional and articulate.
