  • Overview

    This position is responsible to perform moderately complex accounting activities relating to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger and the preparation of basic financial statements.  The position will prepare journal entries and review and verify accounting classifications assigned to various records and documents and other projects as assigned.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger, and the preparation of income and balance sheet statements and various other accounting reports to properly reflect the financial position of the company.
    • Reviews and verifies accounting classifications and prepares journal entries as required to ensure accuracy and integrity of accounting data. Verifies that sub ledgers and analysis agree with general ledger.
    • Coordinate monthly closing process for the Pittsburgh Corporate location assuring that entries required from other Team Members are processed.
    • Analyze and update account analysis detail to provide support for general ledger balances.
    • Assists other Business Team Members in the proper classification of various expenditures; has thorough understanding of chart of accounts. Coordinates accounting matters with other departments, locations and subsidiaries.
    • May recommend accounting methods and procedures that will improve the overall accounting process.
    • Performs assigned accounting functions of a routine nature to provide management with financial information that can be used in making business decisions or to have a greater understanding of the business decisions or to have a greater understanding of the business. Researches and performs studies that are varied and somewhat difficult in nature.
    • Assists in working with external auditors as required

     

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in business, administration/accounting or applicable experience
    • 3+ years of experience working with general ledger accounting and global financial consolidation.
    • Able to work independently as well as part of a team environment.
    • Capable of establishing priorities and balancing multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Performs work under general
    • Handles moderately complex issues and problems.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Organized and detail-oriented.
    • Able to build collaborative relationships.
    • Understanding of and demonstrated capabilities in basic accounting functions.
    • Proficient in computer software programs, such as Microsoft Office.
    • CPA preferred, but not required
    • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
